Recently, I came upon an estate loaded with U.S. Marine Corps uniforms spanning the Vietnam War era up to about 1996. Seems the owner was downsizing and selling everything in the home. I bought all but a few pieces that sold before I got there.
The owner had apparently served in some capacity in the Vietnam War era or perhaps he spent 30 years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Since records for this time period are not public information as of yet, it is difficult to tell. I do know that he was appointed Colonel in the USMC Reserve in 1992 and the later uniforms reflect that rank. There are so many uniform pieces, I will have to list them in the store on this site as well as my ebay store
The USMC Alpha Service Uniform is quite nice, forest green with subdued EGA lapel insignia, Colonel rank pins , sharpshooter qualification badges, ribbons and a Secretary of Defense Identification Badge. It is an Ippolita brand matching coat & pants in poly/wool gabardine dated 1993. The khaki officer`s shirt has his last name (Henig) stenciled in the neck.
From my research it is safe to say he was permanently assigned to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) or subordinate offices or some of the Defense Agencies and Department of Defense Field Activities in Quantico VA.
I think this uniform will appeal to any serious military collector and possibly to a movie studio prop company. Quite a few of my military pieces have sold to movie prop companies in California and to photographers, so I`ll admire it for a bit before it sells.
Here are photos of a few of the uniform pieces for sale. Some have not been listed yet. Please feel free to contact me about any of them.
