Reverse applied ad on old transom window from a Richmond VA shoe repair shop.
This is an actual glass transom window from an old downtown shoe repair shop. Glass is 1/4 inch thick and 29 1/2 x 13 3/4 inches. Cat`s Paw Rubber Sole ad has a bit of paint loss in spots, but ad was applied to inside of window glass facing out to the street. It has white paint on left and top edge where someone painted around the transom window. Shoe Repair Advertising Has been cleaned off of Front Side to reveal a beautiful Cat`s Paw Rubber Sole Invisible Soling advertisement as it looked in its day. Photos picked so much glare and reflections, that they don`t do it justice.
According to the book Symbols of America, the cat was designed by Lucian Bernhard for the Cat’s Paw Company of Baltimore. Bernhard is a famed German graphic designer. When the trademark was officially registered in 1936.
